Sauna FAQ
What is an infrared sauna?
In the infrared sauna, infrared light penetrates several inches into the body and creates heat, resulting in a whole-body hyperthermia on a cellular level to make you sweat.
Is this like a regular steam sauna?
Nope! Invisible light heats the body, not the surrounding air, so it is more comfortable and allows you to enjoy a longer session than with traditional steam saunas.
What are the benefits of being in the infrared sauna?
Sweating is the best way to rid the body of toxins (toxic drugs, pollutants, pesticides and heavy metals), which in turn improves the immune system and overall health. Sweating is also a great way to increase metabolic rate and reduce stress – it’s like a workout without the work – burning 600+ calories per session. The infrared sauna helps you detoxify, improves circulation, lymphatic drainage and cardiovascular health, reduces pain, increases your metabolic rate to jumpstart weight loss, rejuvenates your skin, and reduces stress and cortisol levels.
Is infrared sauna for anti-aging?
Yes! The infrared sauna is great for reducing wrinkles and crow’s feet, and it helps improve overall skin tone, including softness, smoothness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.
What do I wear?
We recommend wearing as little as possible. A cotton towel, gym shorts, swimsuit or your birthday suit are perfect options.
How often should I use the sauna?
One session will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. But similar to exercise, the more you do it, the better the results. Recommended use is 3-4 times per week for 30-45 minutes.
We recommend working your way up to 30-45 minutes. You will have the room for 50 minutes total, giving you enough time to freshen up and change upon completion. Your sweating and detoxification continues after you get out of the sauna for about 30-60
minutes afterwards, so it is not recommended that you shower right afterwards as it will shorten the benefits of the detoxification process.
When will I start sweating?
Sweat levels differentiate between each individual. Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat during the first few sessions. Sweating will increase with regular use. Even if your body is not drenched in sweat, your body is still detoxifying from harmful toxins. Also,
be sure to drink plenty of water before your session. If you are dehydrated, you will not sweat as much.
Is it okay to use the sauna while breastfeeding?
Please consult with your physician, as this answer is usually yes, but may be no depending upon your circumstances.
Can I use the sauna while pregnant?
Even though infrared is completely safe, it is not recommended to use while pregnant. While pregnant, the core body temperature is already elevated and you could overheat.

Can children use the infrared sauna?
In general, children above the age of 12 can use the infrared sauna for a brief session. Children who are prepubescent are not able to thermo-regulate (regulate their body
temperature through proper sweat production) as well as adults do, so please consult with your primary care provider before using the infrared sauna.
Who cannot use the infrared sauna?
Infrared sauna use is not recommended for people who are pregnant, children under 12, those who cannot handle temperature extremes, those with hemophilia, fever, insensitivity to heat, and those under the influence of alcohol or who abuse alcohol.
How should I prepare for my infrared sauna experience?
Obviously with all the sweating, you want to make sure to rehydrate! Please come to each session well-hydrated, not hung-over or after drinking alcohol. You will receive one complimentary bottle of water and towels are provided for your session.
*In the rare event that you experience pain or discomfort, immediately discontinue sauna use*
